Loam mortars
Construction soil consists of a mixture of silty, sandy, or gravelly aggregates and clay minerals as a binder. It is used in various construction mortars, both mineral-based and enriched with plant fibers. Clay is an ancient, important, and versatile binder that is readily available in many parts of the world. It is suitable for a wide range of construction techniques, including rammed earth, adobe, compressed earth blocks (CEB), mortars and coatings, cob, wattle and daub, and superadobe.
