Troglodyte housing of about 70 m2, attached to a group of caves in Cannatektum’s facilities. It was acquired in 2009 and restored in 2010, after having partially collapsed due to lack of maintenance and the consequences of intense rains that lasted 3 months during the winter of 2009/2010 and caused damage to thousands of caves in Guadix.
The two lost rooms have been converted into an organic patio, after cleaning fallen earth, chipping and filling in lost material, crowned with recycled terracotta tiles, fixed with NHL3.5 lime mortar. Inside the cave, a series of rooms were discovered, damaged but partially recoverable, which were found by surprise, behind an adobe wall that gave way to a long access corridor.
After the damaged ceilings and walls had been chipped away, a skylight was opened and various substantial cracks and gaps were filled with layers of concrete made from hemp aggregates, earth and lime. The cave was then whitewashed with several layers of hydrated lime paint mixed with 40-micron marble fillers.
The floors consist of a concrete mixed with recycled CANNABRIC blocks (ground), added with NHL5 lime. The floor is a pigmented plaster-lime stucco on top of a plaster mortar. The patio has a floor with terracotta tiles on a floor slab and a mortar with NHL5 lime.
